Let me start by saying welcome! Thank you for dropping by and taking a look at what is essentially going to be a wine diary. For more info on me and why I started, check out the about me section, I have archived all previous tastings under the appropriate section, otherwise, here's what I tasted this week!

Fifi Factor 
Kusada Syrah Martinborough, NZ, 2007
Strange strange wine. I had been told that it only tasted of white pepper (which I personally am not a fan of), so I was a little nervous and not expecting much. I was worried that it was going to be some sort of NZ imitation of a punch-you-face-out Australian Shiraz. It was not. The nose was classic Martinborough tobacco, however the palate was the strangest thing. Vanilla. Vanilla, vanilla vanilla vanilla. More a vanilla bean than the more classic vanilla you normally find. The rest of the palate was pretty classic, pepper, floral, mouse droppings etc. But worth a shot for the strange vanilla bean syrah.

Merry Edwards Russian River Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2008
I have been dying to try this wine for months, once I found out a Sauvignon Blanc NOT from NZ won the highest Wine Spectator Points ever for a Sauvignon Blanc. It was more amazing than I could have imagined. Beautiful fruity but unoffensive nose, complex but most importantly smooth palate. I adored the complete contrast to an NZ SB.
